Eagles of Death Metal lash out at Guns N' Roses
Jesse Hughes tells Axl Rose to 'go fuck himself' after tour shun
Eagles Of Death Metal band leader Jesse "The Devil" Hughes has vented his anger at Axl Rose, saying the singer is "fucking out of his mind" after his band were thrown off Guns n' Roses' US tour.
The band were reportedly "let go" after getting a hostile reception from the audience at a recent gig.
However speaking to NME.COM, Hughes said he was "shocked" by Rose's reaction when he branded them "The Pigeons Of Shit Metal", and then sacked them from stage during a recent gig at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena.
"Axl Rose is fucking out of his mind," raged Hughes. "He wasn't even there when we played. He got there about 30 minutes after we got done playing. He waltzed on to the stage and went nuts.
"He had a couple of fans thrown out for pissing him off. Then when he called us The Pigeons Of Shit Metal, Tommy Stinson, their bass player took his bass off and goes: 'Fuck you, that's it'. And then he threw his bass down. But then Axl picked up his bass and fucking threw it at him dude. It was a fucking circus up there."
Despite reports claiming that his band were thrown off the tour for the poor reception they received, Hughes said by the end of the show EODM managed to win the fans over.
"When we first walked out there the crowd were jeering but it was because we weren't Axl Rose," he admitted. "These kids had been waiting there since seven o'clock for the second coming of Christ and Axl wasn't there yet. So a bunch of happy go lucky sincere and real deal rock and rollers came out and started playing. The jeers only went on for a little bit. By the end of the set we'd won those fuckers over."
Despite throwing his band off tour, Hughes claims that his tour manager then received a call later that night from Rose's management apologising for the singer's actions and he asked them to return for the remaining dates of Guns n' Roses' three-week tour.
"By the end of the night that guy [Rose]had caused a giant uproar," said Hughes. "It was like a total mutiny on the part of his band and everyone. I could hear screaming in the dressing room, 'Those are our friends and you've insulted our friends'. Then at 4am in the morning our tour manager gets a phone call which essentially amounted to: 'Axl's thought about it, he thought you guys were a band getting shoved on his tour from the label. He's really sorry and you're more than welcome to finish the tour'.
"When my manager told me that, I just said, 'You can tell that motherfucker to go and fuck himself because I will never go through that again'."

Rufus Wainwright Talks Christmas Show, New Album
"The Wainwright Family & Friends Christmas" to feature Lou Reed, Antony, David Byrne, more
When it comes to Christmas extravaganzas in New York City, you'd be hard pressed to match the fabulousness of the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. But Rufus Wainwright is going to try. On December 13 at Carnegie Hall, Rufus and his sister Martha will host "The Wainwright Family & Friends Christmas", a concert "celebrat[ing] the spirit of the holidays and family camaraderie" according to a press release. It's the sequel to last winter's "The McGarrigle Christmas Hour", hosted by the Wainwright siblings along with their mother Kate McGarrigle and aunt Anna McGarrigle.
"It's an off-the-cuff evening of friends and family kind of popping on and off stage as if the stage was our living room," Rufus said in an interview with Pitchfork late last week. "There will be many amazing guests like Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Antony, David Byrne, Linda Thompson, and Teddy Thompson. Sort of an old fashion Christmas sing-along, but with, you know, Carnegie Hall."
"I like the idea of people singing to each other in the privacy of their homes. I think it should happen more often. So that's what I want to recreate...We are all going to be up there pretending to be WASPs, having eggnog. Maybe we will get a black lab on stage or something. Or a golden retriever."
Will they be wearing ugly Christmas sweaters? "Perhaps. Either that or a loud tie. A tie that you never wear that your aunt gave you."
But getting into the Christmas spirit isn't the only thing occupying Rufus Wainwright right now. In June, he recreated Judy Garland's legendary 1961 Carnegie Hall performance in its entirety, generating rave reviews. The concert will be released on CD this coming fall, and Rufus will bring the show to London and Paris in January and February. He hopes to perform it at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles sometime this year as well.
Wainwright is also busy working on his next album, tentatively titled Release the Stars. "I'm going to mix it in January and release it in the spring," he said. "I originally wanted it to be kind of bare, stripped down, and intimate. And it kind of became more dramatic. It's kind of huge, actually. It's kind of operatic. I produced it myself, so I went all-out a little bit."
Wainwright said that Joan Wasser (Joan as Police Woman) guests on the album, as does British actress Sian Phillips.
Finally, once the Christmas show, the Judy Garland concerts, and the new album are finished, Wainwright will begin working on an opera which he has been commissioned to write for New York's Metropolitan Opera. Classy!

On the weekend our lovely friends Anita and Nick announced that they are engaged!! *YAY*
I am really happy and excited for them and believe that they make each other very happy and will do so for a long time!
On Sunday we celebrated by feasting at Yum Cha and later on back at our Paddington lair Anthea cracked open a stunning bottle of Champagne she had bought for Anita and Nick and the engagement was official (well for us anyway)!

The Shins Reveal Wincing the Night Away Tracklist
Lives, get ready to be changed all over again. Pacific Northwest upstarts the Shins have just announced the tracklist to their insanely- anticipated third full-length, Wincing the Night Away.
The 11-song set follows up the quite-well- received Chutes Too Narrow and was recorded this summer at Oregon City's Supernatural Sound, with main Shin James Mercer and dude-about-town Joe Chiccarelli (Beck, Tori Amos, Jonathan Richman, U2) co-helming the production chair.
As previously reported, Wincing the Night Away (which, by the way, sounds like an extremely unpleasant activity) hits the streets January 23 thanks to the fabulous people at Sub Pop Records. We'll all be, er, wincing the nights away in anticipation of that date, oh yes.
To keep the young Braffians out there thoroughly stoked, the Shins will release Wincing's first single, "Phantom Limb", in three different formats on three different dates. Pencils ready: iTunes digital on November 14, CD on November 21, and 7" on December 12. The single comes with two exclusive, non-album B-sides, one of them an alternate version of Wincing cut "Split Needles".
The tracklists are just a clicky-click away, my friends. And look! A tune named after veteran indie pop darling Pam Berry! Swell!
Wincing the Night Away:
01 Sleeping Lessons
02 Australia
03 Pam Berry
04 Phantom Limb
05 Sea Legs
06 Red Rabbits
07 Turn on Me
08 Black Wave
09 Spilt Needles
10 Girl Sailor
11 A Comet Appears
"Phantom Limb":
01 Phantom Limb (album version)
02 Nothing at All
03 Spilt Needles (alternate version)

so on friday night I was sitting at home with my boy watching some 'Rage' on the good ol' ABC... and lo and behold I get the shall we say 'pleasure' of watching the clip for the new 'My Chemical Romance' song called ''Welcome To The Black Parade"... granted I don't know that much about MCR but have read about the new album and how its all conceptual.... *shrugs* whatever...
I can honestly say that I have really (and happily) missed the MCR boat and whatever new style of emo they have 'created'...
on a side note: perhaps its just because I don't 'get' emo at all... ah well...
